Are you a student who is looking for a job on campus? Consider being a Work Study! This federally funded program provides part-time employment for degree-seeking undergraduate and graduate students who can demonstrate financial need. The benefits of Federal Work Study include: Flexible schedule, zero commute, practical work experience, and the ability to gain valuable employment skills.

Students who are interested in a work study position must complete a FAFSA at fafsa.ed.gov. The financial aid office determines eligibility based on the student's FAFSA and then awards an amount that can be earned, usually over two semesters.

How many hours can you work:

  • Cadets can work up to 10hrs per week.
  • Evening Undergrad, Veteran, and fifth year students can work up to 15hrs per week.
  • Graduate Students can work up to 20hrs per week.

How much can I make:

  • Cadets- $8.00
  • Evening Undergrad, Veteran, and fifth year- $8.25
  • Graduate- $10.00

How do you get started?

  • Please visit http://www.citadel.edu/root/finaid to fill out your FAFSA if there is not one on file. Then you should contact the financial aid office to be certain their FAFSA is on file and that there aren't any issues to be resolved.
  • Contact Traci Singleton who is the Campus Based Aid & Work Study Coordinator at 843-953-5187 or singletont1@citadel.eduto set up an appointment to discuss your eligibility. The Financial Aid office is in Bond Hall, Room 138 on the first floor. The office hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm.

Applying for a work study position

  • AFTER you have confirmed your eligibility with Financial Aid and received your approval, you can stop by Human Resources to find out an updated list of job opportunities that are available. Please note: Work-study eligibility does not guarantee job placement.
  • Work study placements are approved and secured on a first come-first serve basis. Most placements happen during the beginning of fall semester and end the first week of May. Funding for summer session is based on the student’s eligibility for the upcoming financial aid year.
