Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is accepting applicants for a Senior Financial Aid Counselor in the Financial Aid Office.  This position will administer all financial aid programs, with the primary responsibility of the state’s scholarship/grant programs. In addition, the incumbent will also be responsible for the following:

  • Manages the state’s LIFE, HOPE, SC Need Based Grant and Palmetto Fellows awards.
  • Administers federal, state, and college policies, procedures and guidelines for financial aid awards.
  • Ensures records compliance with audit requirements.
  • Evaluates applicants’ eligibility and determines amount of financial aid that can be awarded.
  • Conducts financial aid workshops for students, high school, and community agencies.
  • Primary responsibility for Pell, SEOG, and Federal Work Study Programs.; work includes investigation and development of solutions for changes to federal regulations.
  • Ensure maximization of the federal work study spending authorizations.
  • Assist Director with private loan processing.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree is required. Must possess excellent communication skills and be able to represent the interest of the office with diplomacy. Evidence of strong organizational management and problem-solving skills are required. Demonstrated data processing, reporting and data analysis skills acquired through a combination of prior work experience and education. This position will require independent decision making relevant to programs administered. Receives limited supervision.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Higher Education financial aid experience strongly preferred.
