The Veteran Student Success Center is accepting applications for a part-time, Administrative Assistant. Under general supervision of the Assistant Director for Veterans Services, this position will perform a variety of administrative functions as assigned.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides administrative support services, including but not limited to, filing and purging records, processing incoming and outgoing mail, managing the front office.
- Provide assistance to prospective students and parents with general inquiries about Veteran educational benefits via phone, email, or in person.
- Assist with reporting of student enrollment information at the beginning of each term and reviewing schedule adjustments throughout the semester.
- Assist with organization of veteran/student-related files, while maintaining maximum confidentiality by adhering to FERPA regulations.
- Ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
SKILLS
- The ability to learn and follow complex procedures and detailed policies is required.
- Knowledge of and the ability to use computerized management information systems (databases) are required.
- The ability to learn and follow complex procedures and detailed policies is required.
- Considerable data entry work is required. The position requires extended periods of time at a computer station and extensive utilization of information displayed on a computer monitor.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates Degree or a minimum of three years equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of VA benefits or state and/or federal programs and regulations.
- Experience working with military service members.
- Understanding of the needs of first time and non-traditional students
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Must be skilled in Microsoft Office, filing system and proper documentation of records.
- Must be adaptable to performing under moderate to heavy levels of stress imposed by frequent deadlines, peak workloads and student/public contact.
