The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is accepting applications for a Part-Time Boating Operations Assistant for the Swain Boating Center. This position will receive, process, and coordinate requests for boat rentals and other assorted marine equipment. The position works independently under the supervision of the Boating Operations Manager and the Director of Auxiliary Services.
Job Responsibilities:
Provides customer service to Citadel cadets and students, employees, and alumni. This position will assist in the process and coordination of boat rental requests and the operation of the Swain Boating Center which includes motorboats, kayaks, canoes, and standup paddle boards. Responsible for completion of all administrative requirements pertaining to the Boating Center, including opening and closing the boating operations office. Assists with collecting and processing payment of rental fees. Inspects, repairs, troubleshoots, and conducts routine maintenance of boats, trailers, and other assorted marine equipment. Ensures boats are in good safe working condition, are clean, serviced, and ready for dispatch. Documents damages and assists with collecting reimbursement for repairs and/or replacement of damaged or lost equipment.
Additional Duties:
Assists with maintenance of trailers, docks, facility, and grounds. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
A high school diploma and customer service experience; preferred experience that is directly related to the field. Must be able to communicate effectively both written and verbally and have basic computer skills with the ability to learn new software. Must be able to make sound decisions concerning safety, proper procedures and practices in accordance with state and college regulations. DNR boat safety training and knowledge of boating operations preferred. Must have a valid SC driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience performing maintenance and repair of motorboats. Able to train customers to operate motorboats and navigate the channel and ability to administer an On Water boat test.
