Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is seeking a Laundry Manager to oversee the dry-cleaning and laundry operations; in addition, this role will be responsible for the following:

  • Supervises laundry and dry-cleaning department workers.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training and evaluating employees.
  • Plans, organizes, and prioritizes work activities to meet turnaround time requirements.
  •  Assigns tasks to workers including sorting, washing, drying, pressing, and finishing as needed.
  • Communicates expectations and standards of performance to subordinates and reviews work to ensure that it was done properly; will council and discipline accordingly if needed.
  • Initiates measures to improve production methods, increase efficiency, and improve the quality of work. 
  • Keeps production records
  • Ensures equipment is properly maintained and fully operational; reports all/any equipment or facility issues to the Director.
  • Maintains inventory of materials and supplies.

Minimum Qualifications:

A high school diploma and experience in laundry or dry-cleaning. Knowledge of how to properly carry out laundering tasks and utilize commercial laundry and dry-cleaning equipment. Knowledge of safety practices relevant to laundry and dry-cleaning operations. Ability to communicate effectively and keep accurate records. Ability to prioritize and make the optimal use of personnel, materials, and equipment. Ability to plan, direct, and review the work of subordinates. Knowledge of the concepts and techniques of on-the-job training.

Occasional weekend work primarily at the beginning of the school year. Occasional travel to conferences/training sessions. Opens/closes department. Must be able to lift up to twenty-five pounds, stand, squat, bend, push, and pull.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Supervisory experience preferred.
