Tenure-Track Assistant or Associate Professor of Accounting

The Tommy and Victoria Baker School of Business at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Accounting at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, beginning Fall 2026.

Position Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting.
• Maintain Scholarly Academic (SA) status through ongoing high-quality peer-reviewed publications and other scholarly activities, in accordance with Baker School of Business criteria.
• Advise and mentor accounting majors, supporting their academic, professional, and ethical development.
• Actively promote the accounting program both within the institution and externally through professional engagement.
• Participate in normal service activities, including departmental and school-level committee work.

Qualifications

Minimum:

• An earned doctorate in Accounting from an AACSB-accredited (or equivalent) institution (ABD candidates will be considered if the dissertation defense is expected before employment begins).
• Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.

Preferred:

• Active professional licensure (e.g., CPA, CMA).
• Professional experience in accounting or a related field.
• A record of or potential for publishing in high-quality peer-reviewed academic journals.

The Tommy & Victoria Baker School of Business is an AACSB International-accredited institution located on The Citadel’s campus in beautiful Charleston, on the coast of South Carolina. Now situated in its own recently completed educational building, the School of Business engages state-of-the-art technology and media resources for innovative, highly effective business education.
