About The Citadel College:

The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, is a public senior military college located in Charleston, South Carolina. Position Summary 

The Zucker Family School of Education at The Citadel invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Counselor Education with a focus on school counseling, beginning August 2027.

The ideal candidate will have experience as a school counselor and will teach graduate school counseling courses on a 3-3 load, supervise students through their field experiences, and advise and mentor students from admission through licensure.

The successful applicant will be expected to build a research agenda that leads to peer-reviewed publications and/or securing external funding. Candidates will help shape curriculum and program development, contribute to our CACREP accreditation work, partner with local P-12 districts and community agencies, and stay active in the professional life of the field. Service on school, college, and professional committees is also an expectation.

The ideal candidate will hold a doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited institution by August 2027 and who has a record of success as a certified professional school counselor. Candidates should bring demonstrated multicultural competence in both counseling and teaching, a clear plan for scholarship, and teaching skills that work in face-to-face and online settings. Preference will be given to candidates that demonstrate innovative uses of technology as an instructional tool, and willingness to work as a team member in implementing and reviewing CACREP standards.
