The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is accepting applicants for an Assistant Director in the Student Success Center. The Student Success Center Assistant Director works closely with the Student Success Center Director and is responsible for the following:
- Mange and coordinate program design, implementation, and daily functions of the Subject Area Tutoring Program. Coordinate and provide training for individuals assisting with the Subject Area Tutoring Program.
- Assist in the day-to-day operations for the Student Success Center. Manage, coordinate, and document the training of all SSC employees.
- Interviews and hires, with the Director’s approval, all staff (student, graduate assistants, and/or professional tutors) for the Subject Area Tutoring.
- Manage the front desk operations and serve as the backup payroll manager and purchasing card office liaison.
- Assist Director with reports required by college administration.
- Advises a cohort of students identified by the Office of Student Affairs and Academic Services.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in education, psychology, counseling, student affairs or related field. Extensive knowledge of academic coaching as well as extensive knowledge of tutoring practices based on College Reading and Learning Association certification requirements for subject area tutors. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with coaches, students, faculty, staff, administrators, parents, and alumni as well as the community. Ability to disseminate information electronically to campus community and to communicate effectively in both writing and speech. Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when dealing with confidential information.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a college student success center, academic support center, or college writing center. Experience working with Institutional Research to review data and analytics. Experience with small-group tutoring.
