Our dynamic and renowned Sport Management Graduate Program is seeking dedicated part-time (20 hours/week) Graduate Assistants to join our team. This role presents an exciting opportunity to acquire hands-on experience within both academia (10 hours) and collegiate athletics (10 hours), offering a unique professional development path.
Position Overview:
As a Graduate Assistant, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting our Sport Management Graduate Program while also contributing to the operations of our NCAA Division 1 athletic department. This is a multifaceted role that combines academic research-related tasks and potential responsibilities in compliance, marketing, communication, and operations within the athletic department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Graduate Assistants will develop and execute research projects, encompassing tasks such as data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Additionally, GAs will prepare reports, manuscripts, and presentations for academic conferences and journal publications.
- Graduate Assistants will obtain practical experience from supervisors and be provided the opportunity to build positive relationships with various professionals in the field.
- Graduate Assistants may be assigned to any of the following areas: Academic Support, Administration, Compliance, Marketing, Student-Athlete Development, Brand Development, Facilities and Event Management. Graduate Assistant will be responsible for supporting and assisting in the execution of a variety of projects and assignments in the designated areas.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Acceptance into the Master of Arts in Sport Management program at The Citadel.
- Possess passion, enthusiasm and energy focused on the elevation and support of The Citadel Athletics mission and vision.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
- Successful background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of higher education research principles and practices.
- Knowledge of and prior work experience in intercollegiate athletics.
- Skills in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
- Skills in planning, organization, coordination of activities.
- Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Skills in both verbal and written communication.
To qualify for the Graduate Assistant program students must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours per semester.
