Job Responsibilities:


The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, is seeking an applicant for the position of Senior Associate Director for Cadet Admissions. Reporting to the Director of Cadet Admissions, this position plays a critical leadership role in undergraduate recruitment strategy, international and regional outreach, and data-informed decision making. The Senior Associate Director will directly supervise staff, manage key recruitment territories, and help drive strategic planning and operational execution using Slate (CRM) and other technology platforms. A key responsibility of this position is to provide oversight, assistance, and input in the development and execution of a multi-pronged communication plan—including email, text messaging, video messaging, postcards, and calling campaigns—to engage prospective students and support enrollment goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment Strategy & Territory Management
    • Develop and execute strategic recruitment plans for assigned domestic and international territories.
    • Represent The Citadel at recruitment events, including high school visits, college fairs, and virtual engagements.
    • Cultivate relationships with prospective students, families, school counselors, alumni, and partners.
    • Contribute to yield initiatives and programming aligned with institutional goals.
  • International Recruitment Oversight
    • Lead and expand international recruitment efforts, including pipeline development and outreach strategies.
    • Ensure compliance with international admissions protocols and collaborate with relevant campus offices to support admitted students.
  • Staff Supervision and Team Leadership
    • Supervise a team of admissions counselors and/or associate directors, providing mentorship, performance management, and professional development.
    • Coordinate territory assignments, travel planning, and application review responsibilities.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and student-centered service.
  • Strategic Planning and CRM (Slate) Utilization
    • Partner with the Director and Deputy Director in data analysis and strategic planning to enhance recruitment and enrollment outcomes.
    • Provide oversight, assistance, and input in the development and execution of a comprehensive, multi-pronged communication plan to support recruitment and yield efforts. This includes strategies involving email, text messaging, video messaging, postcards, and calling campaigns, coordinated through Slate and other platforms.
    • Utilize Slate CRM for territory management, communication plans, event tracking, and data reporting.
    • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline operations and optimize prospective student engagement.
  • Collaboration and Leadership
    • Serve as a senior member of the cadet admissions leadership team, contributing to office-wide initiatives and strategic decision-making.
    • Collaborate with other campus stakeholders—including academic departments, communications, and enrollment services—to support institutional priorities.
    • Assist with special projects and assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in college admissions or higher education recruitment.
  • Demonstrated experience in international recruitment and knowledge of international admission practices.
  • Prior experience supervising or mentoring professional staff.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of undergraduate admissions and recruitment strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with CRM systems, preferably Slate, and comfort using data to drive strategy.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment and Travel:

  • Travel required, including visits to high schools, college fairs, and community events.
  • Evening and weekend hours may be necessary to meet admissions goals and deadlines.
