The Veteran Student Success Center is accepting applications for a full-time Salaried-Temp, VA School Certifying Official. This role, under the supervision of the Assistant Director for the Veteran Student Success Center, supports military-connected students by ensuring accurate and timely certification of enrollment to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and providing expert guidance on related policies and procedures.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- As the first point of contact for students using VA education benefits, the VA School Certifying Official is expected to be able to provide detailed information and guidance to new and current students regarding VA benefits, payments, registration, and available resources.
- Serve as a VA School Certifying Official (SCO) by processing enrollment certifications promptly and accurately for submission to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Assist Veterans and military-connected students in resolving issues related to policies, procedures, financial aid, and billing.
- Responsible for interpreting and explaining VA regulations and how changes may impact students.
- Utilize the Department of Veterans Affairs Enrollment Management system and the institution's Banner system for data entry and reporting.
- Maintain mandatory VA training as required by the Department of Veterans Affairs, which may involve occasional overnight travel.

Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree and progressive experience related to working with military connected students. Ability to work with a diverse population with a wide variety of needs, especially with Veterans and Active Duty. Ability to communicate with students and student accounts, financial aid, and academic departments. Commitment to veteran student development and success.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with student affairs and VA education benefits is a plus. Knowledge of GI Bill requirements and US Department of VA Education Benefits desirable. Strong interpersonal and presentation skills. A working knowledge of BANNER is desired but not required.
