Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is seeking an Assistant Grounds and Facilities Administrator in the Athletics Department. The Assistant Grounds and Facilities Administrator will assist in overseeing the maintenance and operations of athletic facilities and grounds. In addition, this role will be responsible for the following:

  • Will support the maintenance and repair of indoor facilities, including offices, restrooms, common areas, and playing surfaces.
  • Coordinates with custodial staff to ensure facilities are clean and well-maintained. Assist in facility usage schedules and reservations.
  • Will set up and break down equipment and facilities for events, including seating, signage, and field markings. 
  • Coordinates with event staff, vendors, and volunteers to ensure smooth operations during events. 
  • Provides support to teams, officials, and visitors, addressing any issues or concerns promptly.
  • Manage and maintain records of maintenance schedules, work orders, pesticide usage and inventory; coordinates with vendors and contractors for maintenance and repair services
  • Assists in budget planning and management for facilities and operations; prepares reports on maintenance activities, facility conditions and project progress.
  • Adheres to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe environment for staff, visitors, and contractors.
  •  Assists in the implementation of emergency procedures and responds to incidents as needed; conducts regular safety inspections and address any hazards or compliance issues.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma.  Must have a strong organizational and multitasking skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Physical ability to perform manual labor and operate grounds keeping equipment. Outdoor work in various weather conditions. Physical demands include lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certifications in grounds keeping or sports management is a plus. Previous experience in grounds maintenance or event operations preferred.
