The Department of Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at The Citadel invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor (PhD or ABD) or Visiting Instructor (MA) beginning August 15, 2025. We seek an engaged colleague committed to student success and retention, with demonstrated excellence in teaching German as a foreign language. The teaching load is 5/5 with every effort made to consolidate preparations. We offer the opportunity to teach at all levels of the German program, and to design special topics seminars in German and in English. Specialty is open. Teaching will be in person during business hours. The position is benefits eligible. A Masters or Doctoral (ABD) degree in the discipline is required at the time of appointment, with at least 2 years of collegiate teaching experience. The position requires native or near-native fluency in German and English.
