Coordinator of The Citadel Summer School
The Coordinator of The Citadel Summer School is a faculty position, compensated with a ten-month contract. The Coordinator serves a five-year term, which is renewable one time. The Coordinator’s will receive a one (1) course reduction in the fall semester. The Coordinator of reports to the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs but retains status as a tenured faculty member within his/her home academic department. Preference will be given to faculty who do not currently hold an administrative leadership position.
The Coordinator of The Citadel Summer School must be:
- A tenured (as of Fall 2025) faculty member with the rank of Associate or Full Professor
- An inspiring mentor, thoroughly committed to faculty development
- A participant in assessment who understands that assessment is key to sustained growth and improvement
- A visible presence on campus, personally available to students and faculty during working hours
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The Coordinator of The Citadel Summer School is responsible for developing and leading the strategy, execution, and operations of The Citadel Summer School. The Coordinator is specifically responsible for identifying opportunities for summer school that speak to The Citadel’s brand and utilize both physical and intellectual campus resources, collaborating with campus partners enhance and assess a robust slate of summer school offerings. The following are some specific responsibilities:
- Working with campus partners, develop and execute a strategy to help existing students get back on track for a timely graduation and to help other students get ahead
- Working with campus partners, develop and execute a strategy to provide opportunities for local college students to engage with the Citadel Summer School to meet their summer school needs
- Coordinating with department heads and program director to identify new opportunities or delivery methods
- Coordinate an efficient summer school schedule ensuring adherence to all published policies and procedures
- Represents the Provost office in the coordination of summer student housing planning and execution
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently to solve problems and look for opportunities to take on responsibility that contributes to a successful program.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to envision and propose new methods to perform tasks and create solutions to gain sought-after results.
- Ability to think strategically, understanding how the work of this position fits into the overall goals of the college and how the programs developed can advance the college’s mission.
- Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and multi-task while exercising a high level of attention to detail.
