One position will focus on pediatric nursing and the other on medical-surgical nursing. Founded in 1842 and located in historic Charleston, South Carolina, The Citadel is a public, coeducational senior military college dedicated to educating and developing principled leaders. Total enrollment is approximately 3,900 students, including approximately 2,400 members of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets, with additional students enrolled in graduate, evening undergraduate, College Transfer Program, and online offerings. In the 2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings, The Citadel is ranked No. 1 among Regional Universities in the South for the third consecutive year, No. 1 among Public Regional Universities in the South for the 16th consecutive year, and No. 1 among Best Colleges for Veterans in the South for the ninth consecutive year.

One of seven departments in the Swain Family School of Science and Mathematics, the Swain Department of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Established in 2017, the program offers face-to-face instruction through both a day program for the South Carolina Corps of Cadets and an evening degree-completion program. Small classes support personalized learning and direct faculty engagement with students. The Citadel’s 12:1 student-to-faculty ratio and average undergraduate class size of approximately 20 support close engagement with students. The Citadel provides internal funding for faculty professional development and travel.
