Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is seeking an internal applicant for a Director of Cadet Store/Barber Shop in the Auxiliaries Department.  This role, operates with limited supervision from the AVP of Auxiliary Services and oversee the daily operations of the Barbershop and Cadet Store ensuring operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.  In addition, this role will handle the following:

  • Oversees purchasing, receiving, pricing, inventorying and issuing of military and uniform items.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact with uniform and merchandise suppliers and the Office of the Commandant and ensures that merchandise meets our military and quality standards.
  • Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory levels to meet the needs of the Corps. of Cadets and larger campus community.
  • Focused on continuous improvement and implements changes to facilitate optimal operations.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, evaluating and motivating a team of employees; schedules and assigns work to ensure efficiency in operations, approves time and leave for all employees in this area.
  •  Will submit earnings reports as needed for each pay period.
  • Works closely with AVP and Director of Auxiliary Services to develop annual budgets and ensures the Cadet Store and Barbershop meet financial targets and operate within budget.
  • Will be the Prism point-of-sale and inventory management system contact; responsible for training team members to effectively utilize the system to process sales and manage inventory.
  •  Ensures revenues collected are properly deposited and posted to Banner.
  • Processes invoices for payment in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have a Bachelor's degree in business administration with a major in merchandising or retailing or a closely related field and five (5) years retailing experience required; OR a combination of education and experience necessary to perform the work. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to analyze data to make informed decisions. Must have good understanding of Microsoft office and other programs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to stand, squat, push, pull, and lift thirty pounds. Some evening and weekend work required.
