The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, seeks nominations and applications for the inaugural Dean of the Krause School of Leadership and Ethics—a 12-month, tenured faculty position or professor of practice at the rank of Professor. The inaugural dean will be a visionary leader who will guide a talented faculty and staff in launching the premier school of leadership and ethics in the nation. The school will prepare undergraduate and graduate students to be principled leaders and will build a portfolio of executive education programs. The Krause School of Leadership and Ethics will comprise three units: the Department of Leadership Studies, the Krause Center for Leadership Development (KCLD), and Executive and Professional Education.

Top candidates will demonstrate a commitment to open, collaborative leadership; innovative approaches to undergraduate and graduate programs in leadership and ethics, as well as executive and continuing education; a record of supporting scholarship, research, and securing grants; strategic and operational excellence; progressive experience in leadership within higher education, government, or business; successful leadership experience; dedication to the professional development of faculty, staff, and graduates; and a commitment to the leadership development of cadets and students. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to lead faculty, staff, and students within the school; serve as a thought leader in the field of leadership studies; and show a strong commitment to preparing principled leaders for all sectors—private, public, military, and nonprofit.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctorate in Leadership or a closely related field; significant leadership experience in higher education, government, or business; successful collegiate teaching and/or administrative experience; a record of excellence in teaching, research, and service appropriate for appointment as a tenured full professor or full professor of practice; and knowledge of the trends and issues challenging leaders at the national, state, and local levels.
