Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, is seeking an internal Director of CSI and Student Success Advisor.  This role will be responsible for leading. coordinating, enhancing, developing, implementing, and assessing CSI initiatives, programs, and services. Other responsibilities for the CSI Program include:

  • Collaborate with academic and student support units to enhance, develop, and implement a comprehensive curriculum to include academic, non-academic, and co-curricular programming that aligns with the Office of the Provost and The Citadel's academic expectations and institutional standards.
  • Help coordinate communication with admitted students regarding program details and expectations; participate in events and conduct presentations to include orientations, information sessions etc.
  • Organize on and off-campus social events and team-building activities to facilitate student connections and to help build a strong sense of belonging and community.
  • Will work to assess the program; collect and analyze data relating to student participation, academic performance, and overall satisfaction.
  • Must manage and train the staff that assist with running the program; develop and deliver comprehensive training for staff to ensure they are equipped to effectively support students academically and socially.
  • Manages the CSI budget, including allocating funds for staff salaries, student stipends, program materials, and other necessary expenses.  Will also seek additional funding sources through grants and partnerships.

In addition to running the CSI program, the Director is the primary Student Success Advisor for the CSI student cohort; which includes CSI summer participants and former CSI participants from matriculation through graduation. The director is responsible for providing and overseeing the provision of academic support for the CSI cohort, to include:

  • Advise current and prospective students on course selection, degree programs, campus resources, and career options based on students' interests, goals, needs, and degree progress.
  • Maintain student records and data security and accurately document student interactions in the advising management system in accordance with FERPA and The Citadel policies.
  • Collaborate with faculty advisors and career center staff/counselors to help students develop academic pathways associated with desired career aspirations.
  • Collaborate with the Director or Advising to identify academically at-risk current and future students and participate in the development and implementation of intervention strategies and programs.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a Master's degree and a progressive work experience in the student services field.
  • Proven experience in student support services
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage complex projects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and other internal and external stakeholders
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in higher education preferred.
