The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, is accepting applications for an Assistant Wrestling Coach.  The Citadel is a highly competitive Division I wrestling program and a member of the Southern Conference.  The successful candidate will be expected to adhere to the letter and intent of the military mission and regulations of this institution, contribute to the campus community in a positive manner and encourage student-athletes to succeed in balancing the academic, military and athletic aspects of their education. Coaches are expected to represent the institution and the program in accordance with institutional values of Honor, Duty and Respect.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the head coach in the organization of the program. Duties may include: creation of practice and training plans, competition strategy, tactical instruction and skill development, coordination of team travel, management of equipment and gear, oversight of team student managers, and other administrative responsibilities as assigned.
  • Recruit prospective student-athletes in alignment with The Citadel’s core values.
  • Promote academic success, integrity, and timely graduation for all student-athletes.
  • Assist with fundraising and alumni engagement initiatives to support program growth and sustainability and build meaningful relationships with all stakeholders to foster lifelong connections to The Citadel and the wrestling program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Wrestling Coach.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Strong commitment to student-athlete development and a deep appreciation for The Citadel’s mission of developing principled leaders.
  • The Citadel demands thorough knowledge and adherence to institutional, Southern Conference and NCAA rules.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior coaching experience preferred.
