Job Responsibilities

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is seeking an Assistant Track/Cross Country Coach in the Athletics department.  This role serves as the Assistant Track and Field/Cross Country Coach for a Division I program, adhering to all NCAA, SoCon and institutional rules.  In addition, this role will be responsible for the following:

  • Teaching, practice planning, tactical and game strategizing.
  •  Supports, encourages and mentors student athletes.
  •  Monitors and advises regarding the academic excellence of student-athletes, works with both individual and team training sessions, collaboration with strength and conditioning coaches on development of training plans for student-athletes.
  • Communicates and collaborates with sports medicine staff to ensure the health and safety of the student-athletes.
  • Responsible for ordering supplies, financial reporting responsibilities, travel and official scheduling.
  •  Reporting to the SoCon, camp and clinic paperwork, recruitment reports, knowledge of and compliance with all NCAA, SoCon and Institutional rules and regulations; completion of compliance reports.
  • Assists with scholarship generation and reporting with the compliance office and sport supervisor.

 

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree is required. Must be highly organized and have strong leadership and communication skills. The Citadel demands thorough knowledge and adherence to institutional, Southern Conference and NCAA rules. Previous experience as a player and coach and a thorough knowledge of the skills required to teach Collegiate Track and Field/Cross Country are required.  Division I playing and coaching experience.

Able to meet the physical demands of coaching Track and Field/Cross Country. Must be able to work outside in variable weather conditions, be on your feet for long periods of time and be able to travel when required. Ability to work weekends, nights and early mornings is required. Ability to perform drills in both an individual and team setting are required.
