Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, is accepting internal only applicants for Assistant Registrar for Academic Records in the Registrar’s Office.  Under the supervision of the Associate Registrar, this position is responsible for providing support and for meeting the needs of the registrar, office staff, deans, department heads, faculty, students and visitors to the College. The position collaborates and works closely with academic departments, ITS, Student Business Services, Financial Aid, and Admissions and along with various other departments throughout campus.

  • Manages and maintains student academic records to include but not limited to course substitutions, change of grades, course repeats, non-course degree requirements and other pertinent items.
  • Monitors the collection, processing and posting of grades including outreach and communication to schools, departments, and faculty.  Posts grades to military portals.  Manages process for reporting students who qualify for Dean’s List and Gold Stars.
  • Supervises the prerequisite check process, dropping and notifying students who have not met the course prerequisites.
  • Supervises the Transfer Credit Coordinator. Reviews transfer credit processes as needed and ensures decisions are made in compliance with current policies and procedures.
  • Provides registration assistance for certain special populations, such as Citadel Success Institute students, and course scheduling support to Associate Registrar. Builds and runs reports in Argos.  Utilizes student information system (Banner), degree evaluation software (Degree Works), and other technology to monitor and manage student records.
  • Serves as the Registrar’s Office liaison with the Department of Leadership and School of Education.
  • Provides support to front desk operations as needed and to orientation, matriculation, and commencement activities.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required.  Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. Working knowledge of registration procedures and an understanding of computer principles and procedures. Must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff, and the general public. Ability to provide supportive counseling for a wide range of student issues and concerns.  Possesses a strong knowledge of and upholds the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
