Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is currently accepting applications to establish a pool for adjunct faculty assignments. Adjunct assignments may be temporary, part-time and/or on-call and may be immediate or as needed. This job posting is not for a specific assignment or for a full-time faculty position, but rather for a pool of candidates who may be considered for part-time teaching or allied faculty assignments.

The Citadel’s Department of English, Fine Arts, and Communications is establishing a pool of applicants  in the Fine Arts.  Duties include teaching undergraduate course(s) in one or more of the following areas: Theatre, Cultural Preservation, 3-D Technologies, Photography, Photoshop, Forensic Photography, or other Fine Arts disciplines, based on departmental needs. Undergraduate courses are offered during the day in face-to-face or hyflex formats throughout the academic year (fall, spring, and summer). All adjunct positions are part-time, temporary, and per session appointments.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Abiding by and upholding the Citadel’s mission, policies, and core values.  Utilizing effective teaching and learning practices such as presentations, demonstrations, class discussion, and other appropriate modes of instructional delivery; preparing course outlines and syllabi in accordance with program standards and in collaboration with the program coordinator. Completing student assessments required for program completion; hosting weekly office hours; meeting all scheduled class periods. Being available to students for individual consultation; submitting midterm grades; recording class absences and submitting final grades by the specified due date. The Citadel requires faculty to submit midterm grades for undergraduate students. The Citadel requires faculty to use the Attendance and Class Absence System to document class attendance for most undergraduate students.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Master’s Degree in a related Fine Arts field (such as Theatre, Photography, Graphic Design, Studio Art, or Art History) is required to teach undergraduate courses. Previous effective teaching at the high school or college level is required. Exceptional interpersonal and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional experience in the field is preferred. Experience in designing courses and materials for face-to-face and online formats is preferred.
