Job Responsibilities:
The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is seeking applicants for a in-person, Instructional Designer and Technologist I roles on campus. These roles report directly to the Director of the Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology and are responsible for the following:
- Assists in the development, configuration, and implementation of the college’s Learning Course Management System (Canvas, etc).
- Troubleshoots problems and coordinates upgrades with the appropriate LCMS Administrator. Serves as LCMS subject matter expert.
- Collaborates with faculty and staff to create high-quality, interactive online courses.
- Plans, develops, and implements new instructional and technical tools; supports the ongoing assessment of instructional effectiveness for existing and future online programs and courses.
- Manages instructional technologies, including the CEITL&DE lab.
- Works closely with faculty and staff to train them on new technologies (i.e. Learning Glass, ipad apps, virtual conferencing) as well as basic computer applications (i.e., Microsoft, Excel).
- Develops and coordinates student online orientation; creates and coordinates additional training sessions in conjunction with Academic Orientation. Creates, updates, and publicizes student online training and support.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in instructional technology and/or online education is required. Must have experience using Canvas or other Learning/Content Management Systems. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be detail oriented, able to multi-task, and able to work under pressure. Must be proficient with Windows, MS Office, HTML, and other multimedia technology. Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds. Some weekend and evening work required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree and higher education experience preferred.
