The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, invites applications for an Assistant Provost for Teaching and Learning and Director of CEITL&DE. This position works collaboratively within and across schools to foster and promote excellence in the classroom.
The Citadel is seeking an innovative and collaborative leader who has demonstrated success in policy, planning, and oversight of program development in the pursuit of excellence in face-to-face and distance education.
Job Responsibilities
- In conjunction with the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs, assists with policy, planning, and oversight of program development for face-to-face and distance education.
- Functions as academic administrator to provide leadership and coordination to ensure quality instruction in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats.
- Leads the administration of Citadel Online (Canvas, Zoom, SWIVL).
- Supervises CEITL&DE Staff.
- Participates in and supervises the preparation and recommendation of detailed budgets, with cost estimates.
- Leads the development of training pathways for faculty and student online training and certification.
- Supports faculty innovation and use of learning technologies. Leads faculty development programming (New Faculty Orientation, New Faculty development series, Faculty Fellows, Faculty Mentors, Professional Reading Series, Tech Talks).
- Represents the College to appropriate academic bodies, both internal and external to the College.
- Oversees distance learning policies related to SACSCOC accreditation, financial audits, and other similar to ensure the college remains compliant with all related policies and standards.
- Teaching responsibilities of two courses per year.
Required Qualifications
- Progressive experience in leading and coordinating faculty to ensure quality instruction in face-to-face, hybrid and online learning.
- Terminal degree in a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in leveraging an LMS to enhance the student learning experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Proven skills in relationship building and working collaboratively within and across units.
- Competitive drive to achieve goals and work toward continuous improvement.
- Ability to manage budgets and leverage resources wisely.
- Good judgement.
