Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is seeking an applicant for a Grounds Specialist in the Facilities and Engineering Department.  This role is responsible for ground maintenance jobs on the college’s property. Will be required to utilize the following: mowers, tractors, and other grounds related equipment. Responsible for trimming/pruning shrubs/trees, weeds, cultivating and spraying using pesticides and herbicides. Will also assist in furniture moves and college equipment moves, as well as, provides labor for college set ups and football stadium cleanups on weekends.


Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent desired. Must be able to lift objects weighing more than 50 pounds and carry up to 50 feet. Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in temperature and humidity extremes including inclement weather. Must be able to work off elevated platforms and man lifts. Must be able to work with minimum supervision. Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing. Some holiday and weekend work required. Must be able to operates vehicles, various lawn, and grounds maintenance equipment. Must be able to plant, trim, spray, mow, weed, sweep, rake, cultivate, dig, water and other related functions of a Buildings and Grounds Specialist as directed by Buildings and Grounds Supervisors.
