The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is seeking an applicant for an accounting position in Construction Management division of the Facilities & Engineering Department.  Under limited supervision of the Director of Construction Management and in coordination with the VP for Facilities & Engineering, this position is responsible for accounting/contract administration for the Construction Management Department of the Office for Facilities and Engineering.

  • Analyzes, prepares and distributes the preparation of various financial and fiscal reports for internal and external use.
  • Reviews complex budgetary requests for completeness and accuracy. Creates and maintains project and accounting records for facility and infrastructure improvement projects and verifies and ensures the proper documentation and financial transactions for each project.
  • Prepares and distributes monthly account information of all Construction Management project account balances. Updates VP for Facilities & Engineering, Director of Construction Management and Construction Management Project Managers of potential overages or shortage in these accounts.
  • Coordinates with agency Procurement Office to issue unique vendor identification numbers and process Purchase Orders. Ensures the Agency follows the Office of State Engineer (OSE), Commission on Higher Education (CHE) and State Fiscal Accountability Authority (SFAA) construction procurement procedures and submits approvals for state construction projects. 
  • Prepares all construction financial accountability reports as needed. Prepares financial and state required documentation for all projects and requests, maintains overview of construction finances and prepares document(s) to close construction accounts. Prepares, reviews and processes contracts for professional and construction services.


Minimum Qualifications:

A high school diploma with progressive experience in the accounting, finance or equivalent fields.  Thorough knowledge of accounting and office procedures, with a basic understanding of facilities management and construction terminology.  A high level of independence is needed, and the ability to use word processing and spreadsheet applications is required.


Preferred Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in business, accounting or a related field preferred.
