The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is accepting applicants for the position of a full-time therapist in The Citadel Counseling Center.  We look forward to receiving applications from enthusiastic mental health professionals who want to join a collaborative supportive team on campus to support our students.

The primary responsibility of a full-time therapist at The Citadel Counseling Center is providing mental health services for currently enrolled cadets and other enrolled students.  Responsibilities include providing the following for students:

  • intake evaluations / assessments for counseling services,
  • short-term personal counseling,
  • crisis intervention,
  • substance abuse assessments and short-term treatment, 
  • referrals for off-campus services, and
  • limited on-call crisis intervention.

 

Additional responsibilities include providing:

  • consultation services to students, staff, faculty, students' parents/family members, health care professionals, and other constituencies within the college and off-campus,
  • preventive educational programming and outreach for students, staff, and faculty which may occasionally require early evening or weekend programs,
  • participating in continuing education to maintain licensure as a mental health professional, and
  • complete other administrative duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters or doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology, counseling, social work, or related field
  • Current license as a Psychologist, LPC, LPC/S, LMSW, LISW-CP, or a related field in South Carolina, or the ability to earn a license as a mental health professional in South Carolina
  • Fulfill job responsibilities based on the state law and national ethical standards consistent with the applicant’s degree and license, as well as according to the policies and procedures of the Counseling Center
  • Provide face-to-face mental health services and consultation on campus at The Citadel Counseling Center and provide outreach on campus at The Citadel

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience providing counseling and related services in a college or university counseling center
  • Experience providing short-term therapy
  • Experience providing counseling services with older adolescents and young adults
  • Experience working as a therapist in a setting similar to a military college
