Job Responsibilities:

Primary Functions:

  • Directly oversee intramural activities including preparation of equipment, fields, and facilities, supervision of referees, assurance of fair play & sportsmanship, and timely reporting of game results.
  • Evaluate candidates for Sigma Delta Psi, honorary physical fitness fraternity.
  • Organize and administer special Intramural, Club & Recreational Athletic (ICRA) events, for example, an open 3-on-3 basketball tournament.
  • Assist in evaluation of and planning for Intramural Athletic program.

 

Secondary Functions:

  • Supervise Deas Hall during special ICRA events.
  • Assist with other special projects as needed, for example, development of academic referee course, or management of intramural website.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Undergraduate degree required, preferably in area of health, P.E. or recreation management. Must be enrolled in graduate program at The Citadel at time of employment. Ability to communicate well with cadets is important; communication skills can be improved through formal training & conscientious effort. Must be able to work outdoors & perform manual labor to include lifting 70 lbs. waist high, stoop, kneel, & bend.

 

Guidelines and Supervision:

Thorough briefing on Intramural Athletic program and military structure in which program operates is explained with examples provided. Employee is encouraged to evaluate, redesign and implement activities & techniques to improve quality of intramural program.

 

Supervisor's Comments:  

Work schedule is 2:00 – 6:30pm, Monday through Thursday. Weekend and/or research hours as needed.

High level of maturity required as employee will supervise & work with cadets.  This position is vital to Intramural Athletic program, which is an important component of cadet life.
