Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina invites qualified individuals to apply for a challenging and rewarding position Laboratory Technician I position.  This position is responsible for planning and administering day-to-day operations of the civil, environmental and construction engineering laboratories and supporting other related building facility and educational program initiatives, located in LeTellier Hall on The Citadel’s campus.  The academic curriculum provides engineering students with seven (7) undergraduate laboratories involving experiments, exercises, testing and data acquisition including: materials, concrete, asphalt, geotechnical, environmental, fluids, and surveying/geomatics.  Laboratory equipment, operation, maintenance and safety are paramount, and all laboratory activities are conducted in accordance with the Department’s Chemical Hygiene Plan.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate Degree, or equivalent technical training, and 3-years of lab experience; OR high school and 5-years of work experience; OR a Bachelor of Science degree in science or engineering, or related field, can be substituted for experience.

In addition to the minimum requirements posted, the successful candidate will have demonstrated an interest in working collaboratively with others who are committed to developing principled engineering leaders, a strong potential for and commitment to advising and mentoring undergraduate engineering students, and a commitment support for our department’s nationally recognized American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE) Student Chapter.  The applicant must be an effective communicator and be able to serve as a role model for engineering students in the Corps of Cadets and to other engineering students in our day and evening programs.
