DESCRIPTION: The Annual Giving team at The Citadel Foundation is seeking a passionate and driven Donor Experience Officer (DXO) and Appeal Coordinator to join our organization. This position combines digital-first communication efforts with innovative workflows to build relationships, execute outreach to alumni and friends of The Citadel, and manage a range of appeals.
RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Actively engage and manage a portfolio of recent and lapsed donors
- Cultivate relationships with these donors via email, phone, social media, video conferencing, texting, and EverTrue's cloud platform
- Work toward clear metrics and goals for outreach, donor meetings, dollars raised, donor count, prospect qualification, and engagement
- Develop and maintain broad knowledge of The Citadel, such as admissions, athletics, academic programs, and alumni engagement activity
- Provide information on The Citadel relative to donor interests and share upcoming opportunities to attend events, volunteer, participate in alumni activities/services, or otherwise deepen their engagement with The Citadel
- Collaborate with other departments both internally at The Citadel and externally to effectively execute 1:1 outreach campaigns using technology resources including fundraising cloud platforms, social media, and virtual communications software
- Manage crowdfunding efforts including goal setting, communications strategy, reporting and detailed fundraising plans for annual giving activities
- Work closely with the Director of Annual Giving to help develop and manage goals and strategy for The Citadel Foundation's Annual Fund
- Perform additional duties as assigned to include special projects and events to assist in the overall fundraising efforts within the Annual Giving team
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education
- Ability to relate to people of diverse backgrounds, training, and experience
- Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other desktop computing software
- Enthusiasm and excellent people skills are essential; successful candidate must have flexibility to handle the needs of a fast-paced work environment and the individual needs of donors
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and to lead and motivate others
- Some evening and weekend work is required
- Affinity for the mission and core values of The Citadel and The Citadel Foundation
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in annual giving and/or higher education institutional advancement
- Experience with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge, GiveCampus and/or EverTrue
- Additional experience in fundraising, public relations, and/or marketing
- At least two years of experience in related development/fundraising, preferably within higher education or in a sales role
- Familiarity with The Citadel and/or similar military-focused organizations
