Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina is seeking a community-engaged faculty member to direct our flourishing service learning and civic engagement (SLCE) programs beginning in August 2020. The Director supervises a dedicated SLCE team within the Krause Center for Leadership and Ethics. This is a nine-month, rank-open appointment contract, including a negotiable tenure-track versus longer-term administrative faculty option. We are seeking an experienced faculty member dedicated to promoting engaged scholarship and teaching while building and sustaining reciprocal community partnerships. The Director serves as a mentor and SLCE liaison to faculty, staff, students mentor, institutional leaders, as well as Charleston-area community partners. The Citadel’s mission is to develop principled leaders, and SLCE is embraced as a key component of that process. While we are best known for our 2400 undergraduates in our residential, military-style environment (South Carolina Corps of Cadets), the Director of SLCE also coordinates outreach to our veteran, graduate student, and evening undergraduate students.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidate must have a Ph.D. and progressive experience in Service and Civic Engagement.
