The Department of Chemistry at The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, seeks applicants for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2020.  Located in beautiful Charleston, South Carolina, The Citadel is a fully accredited, public, comprehensive, co-educational college with a student body of 2900 undergraduate and 900 graduate and professional students and has been recognized as the #1 public Master’s-level University in the South for the last nine years according to US News & World Report. The Chemistry Department offers American Chemical Society-approved B.S. degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry as well as a B.A. in Chemistry.  We seek a broadly trained scientist who is passionate about teaching chemistry at all levels of the curriculum with preference to candidates qualified to teach either organic or inorganic chemistry.  Additionally, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the college’s new general education program.  Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in organic or inorganic chemistry or related discipline by the time of appointment, commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, involving undergraduates in research, and service.  The Citadel supports faculty scholarship through internally-funded research, development, and travel grants.
