September ushered in milestones and a changing season at The Citadel.

Hard-fought home football games returned to Johnson Hagood Stadium. Wreath-laying ceremonies, public reflections and a stair run in 5th Battalion marked 25 years since the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. Cool autumn mornings brought crisp air and softer light to campus in the early hours. The month also included a historic day for the college: the inauguration of The Citadel’s 21st president, Gen. Frank McKenzie, USMC (Ret.), ’79.
